About the application
Attention Artists!
Millcreek City and The Millcreek Arts Council are looking for your help. For Earth Day 2026 we are looking for 5 artists team up with the children in the Millcreek Promise Program to create artistic rain barrels highlighting the importance of our planet earth. The city will provide each artist with 2 barrels and the paint needed to paint and primer to paint the barrels. The artist will paint their own art work on the first barrel. They will then outline a copy of their art on the second barrel for the children to paint. The artists will bring both barrels to the Millcreek Common on Friday April 17th. The painting event will run from 1-5 PM. The artists will support the students (5 at a time) to paint the second barrel. Children will rotate through all of the artists as well as through other partners teaching about water conservancy. These partners include:
Friends of Great Salt Lake
Slow the Flow
Grow the Flow Utah
Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District
Great Salt Lake Audubon
Millcreek Stormwater
Teachers will be onsite for this event so that artists will not be babysitting the students.
On April 24th, the barrels will be auctioned off. All money raised will be provided as a donation to the Millcreek Promise Program. Artists attendance is optional for this event.
All 5 artists selected will receive a $500 stipend for supporting this event.
Interested? Fill out an application to be considered. Application deadline is February 27th.
