About the event

The City of Katy is gearing up for a festive celebration of its rich history and cultural heritage! Join us for a weekend packed with family fun and community spirit at the newly redesigned Historic Town Square in front of Katy City Hall. This event, benefiting the Rotary Club of Katy, promises something for everyone, with 100% of net proceeds going back into our beloved Katy Community through scholarships, nonprofit organizations, and charities. Friday, October 10th will be designated for vendor load in, volunteer meetings, and operational run throughs. The Katy Rice Harvest Festival kicks off Saturday, October 11th 10am-10pm & continues Sunday, October 12th 12pm-6pm The event spans two days, overflowing with activities. Explore 100+ vendor booths offering unique crafted items, indulge in delicious treats from food trucks, and enjoy live music performances. Our carnival returns this year! Dance the night away in front of the main stage or quench your thirst in our beer garden, visit the agriculture adventure area with the family, experience the exhibits and toddler zone. Young or old there’s something for everyone. The newly reimagined festival will feature fantastic opportunities to discover new shops & revisit some of your favorites, savor culinary delights, and forge new connections within our vibrant community. Parking is made easy with new routes, ample space, and free shuttle service to and from the Merrell Center throughout the festival. We also encourage rideshares and will be offering discounts for those who choose to utilize our rideshare partners! Join us in celebrating Katy's heritage and giving back to the community we all love. We can't wait to see you there!

Dish Drop Off Time: 10:00am

Location: Katy VFW Museum - 6206 George Bush Dr, Katy, TX 77492

Judging Time: 11:00am (after the parade)

Terms & Conditions

Entry Guidelines:

  • Open to all amateur chefs (no professional chefs, restaurant operators, or dietitians).
  • One dish per contestant.
  • Dishes must be prepared at home and brought in a disposable aluminum pan.
  • Each pan must be labeled with the dish’s title.
  • Submit your recipe with the entry form, including ingredients, preparation, and cooking instructions.
  • Drop- off time: no later than 10:00am on Saturday, October 4.
  • No registration fee.
  • Age categories: Adult, Student (high school or younger). 
     

Recipe Requirements:

  • The primary ingredient must be rice.
  • Dishes should serve approximately 20 people.
  • Dishes must be covered, labeled and brought in a disposable aluminum pan.
  • Bowls and utensils will be provided.
  • Include serving suggestions with your dish. 
     

Judging Criteria:

  • Entries will be judged based on: taste, texture, creativity, and overall impression.
  • Awards: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each age category, plus a People’s Choice Award.
