Join us for a safe and family-friendly Halloween tradition in the heart of Mt. Vernon! Businesses, organizations, and community groups are invited to participate in Downtown Mt. Vernon Trick or Treat, offering candy and treats to costumed children and families as they visit downtown shops and booths. This event is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community, promote your organization, and be part of the festive spirit. Participants are encouraged to decorate their storefronts or booth spaces and bring plenty of treats for all the little ghosts, goblins, and superheroes who stop by.
Terms & Conditions
By submitting this application, participants agree to the following:
Event Date & Time
The Downtown Mt. Vernon Trick or Treat will take place on Wednesday, October 29th from 5 pm. to 7p.m.
All participants must be set up and ready to distribute treats at least 15 minutes before the start time.
Eligibility
Participation is open to downtown businesses, organizations, and approved community groups.
All applications are subject to approval by the Downtown Mt. Vernon Development Corporation (DMDC).
Treats & Giveaways
Participants must provide commercially packaged, sealed candy or treats. Homemade food items are not permitted.
Non-food giveaways (stickers, pencils, small toys, etc.) are welcome, provided they are safe for children.
Decorations & Costumes
Participants are encouraged to decorate their storefronts or booth spaces and may wear family-friendly costumes.
Costumes or decorations must not include excessive gore, realistic weapons, or imagery deemed inappropriate for children.
Booth/Setup Guidelines (if applicable)
All displays, decorations, and tables must be contained within the assigned space.
Participants are responsible for bringing their own tables, chairs, and decorations if not operating from a storefront.
Safety & Conduct
All participants must act in a respectful and courteous manner toward attendees and fellow participants.
No smoking, alcohol, or inappropriate behavior is permitted in the event area.
Liability
The Downtown Mt. Vernon Development Corporation, City of Mt. Vernon, and event organizers are not responsible for any loss, theft, damage, or injury during the event.
Participants assume all responsibility for their setup, giveaways, and personal belongings.
Weather Policy
This event will be held rain or shine unless dangerous weather conditions arise.
In case of cancellation, participants will be notified via email and/or phone.
Photography Release
By participating, you grant DMDC permission to use photographs or videos taken during the event for promotional purposes.
