Queen City Anime Convention Art Contest: Legal Terms & Conditions for Artwork Submissions
By submitting artwork to the Queen City Anime Convention (QCAC) Art Contest, each artist agrees to the following terms and conditions:
Ownership and Rights: All artwork submitted to the QCAC Art Contest, being pieces specifically created for QCAC's use or derived from QCAC's branding, shall upon submission become the exclusive legal property of Queen City Anime Convention. This transfer of ownership includes, but is not limited to, all copyrights, intellectual property rights, and any other proprietary rights associated with the submitted artwork.
Grant of Rights for Organizational Branding and Use: Due to the nature of organizational branding, promotional needs, and the overall operation of Queen City Anime Convention, the artist irrevocably grants QCAC the perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right and license to use, reproduce, distribute, display, perform, publish, adapt, modify, and create derivative works from the submitted artwork in any and all media, whether now known or hereafter devised, for any purpose related to QCAC's mission, promotion, and activities.
Permitted Modifications and Applications: The artist specifically agrees that QCAC shall have the right to make modifications to the submitted artwork as deemed necessary or desirable by QCAC to best apply the art to the situation in which it is being utilized. Such modifications may include, but are not limited to, cropping, resizing, color adjustments, adding or removing embellishments, applying filters, overlaying text or graphics, and any other alterations required for effective integration into various materials (e.g., website, social media, signage, merchandise, print materials, digital displays, and other promotional or organizational uses).
Artist Credit: While QCAC intends to provide credit to the artist whenever feasible (e.g., on website displays, social media posts), the artist acknowledges that circumstances may arise where providing credit is impractical or not possible, particularly when artwork is integrated into larger designs or signage. The artist waives any right to inspect or approve the finished product where their artwork appears.
Representations and Warranties: By submitting artwork, the artist represents and warrants that:
The artwork is entirely original and created solely by the artist. The artwork does not infringe upon any copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other intellectual property or personal rights of any third party. The artist has the full right and authority to enter into this agreement and transfer the rights herein granted.
Indemnification: The artist agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Queen City Anime Convention, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and representatives from and against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with any breach of the artist's representations or warranties, or any claim that the submitted artwork infringes upon the rights of any third party.
By submitting an application you are agreeing to all of the terms and conditions outlined within this application, as well as Queen City Anime Convention's Rules, Policies, and Code of Conduct.
