About the event

Mountain Makins is an Appalachian Folk Life Festival celebrating the crafts, art, and unique culture of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Known for high quality crafts and artisans, the online festival features juried arts & crafts fair, as well as top regional musical talent and children's activities. The online festival video and marketplace will premiere at 10am on Saturday, October 23rd. The marketplace will feature veteran and first time crafters and artisans.

About the application

The Authors Corner is a popular feature of the festival where authors present their publised books for sale at the festival. There are 10 - 12 spots available, depending on the table size you need. The deadline is approaching, so please get your application in as soon as possible.

Terms & Conditions

Check In: Saturday Morning 8:00 am - 9:30am in Rose Center's front lobby

Set Up:  Author's Corner is in Prater Hall

 

Festival Hours:  Saturday, October 23, 10am - 5pm

                          Sunday, October 24, 11am - 5pm

 

Admission Policy: a Mountian Makins button is your admission to the festival and must be work at all times.  Your button will be included in your check-in packet.

 

Exhibitor Space: Authors will be offered a six-foot table for $20 or half of a six-foot table for $10.

Space is limited so those with multiple books will be given priority on the full tables.  One chair will be provided to each author.

 

Commission:  15% of total sales befor tax (not to exceed $150). A form will be provided in your check-in packet.

A Rose Center representative will collect the money on Sunday afternoon.

 

Preview Reception: Friday, October 22nd from 6:30pm until 9:00pm.  Featuring delicious food and live entertainment, this is an opportunity to get first choice of the artist's one of a kind pieces. Tickets are $25 each adn must be purchased in advance.

 

Sales Tax:  You are responsible for collecting and paying sales tax to the TN Dept of Revenue.  If you have a TN Sales Tax Number, include the number with your contract.  If you do not, a Special Event Tax Form will be provided in your check-in packet.

 

Security:  A security gaurd is on duty at night, however, Rose Center and Mountain Makins are not responsible for any damage or loss of property.

 

Smoking Policy:  Absolutley NO SMOKING in the building during the festival weekend.

 

Hospitality Lounge:  Saturday morning 8:00am - 9:30am;  Sunday morning 9:00am - 10:30am Complimentary coffee, juice, and goodies will be available in the Prater Hall kitchen.

 

Authors must provide their own money change.

Author's tables must be manned at all times.
