Celebrate At Barnesville Buggy Days! Barnesville Buggy Days is the city’s benchmark festival, celebrating Barnesville’s historic heritage as the “Buggy Capital of the South” during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. With original events such as hog calling, wagon pulling, choir competitions, and even a fiddle contest, Buggy Days got its start in November of 1974. Since then, it has been featured in Southern Living Magazine, and its parade has even been granted the title of the “Longest Hometown Parade in the South”. Held every third weekend in September, the Barnesville Buggy Days Festival is dedicated to furthering the camaraderie of family, community, and tradition, with the exhibition, sale, and charitable exchange of local, handcrafted, handmade goods from around the southeast.

CHECK IN AND STAGING WILL BE AT THE GORDON STATE COLLEGE STAGING AREA AT 12PM.

 

PARADE BEGINS AT 2PM. *All Horses MUST HAVE current negative Coggins Test!

Buggy Days Theme:

Join us for the upcoming Buggy Days “Community Awareness” Parade, where we come together to celebrate the rich history of our community and honor the selfless service of individuals throughout the years. Inspired by our desire to recognize and highlight the invaluable contributions of various groups, including the military, police, fire departments, nursing professionals, and local nonprofits, we invite you to march alongside us. Let's pay tribute to these essential roles that have been an integral part of our beloved Buggy Days festival for nearly five decades.   This parade is a heartfelt homage to our community's heritage and the individuals who make it truly special. It honors those who sought healing here, those who rest in our cemetery, those who served our country, those who kept our home safe, those who battle silently within, to the survivors we cherish and those who have left us behind.   Join us and show your support for the people who define our community—a place we proudly call home.
