The Maine Lobster Festival does not descriminate based on a person's national origin, race, color, religion, disability, sexual oriantation, gender identification, and familial status.
Applicants:

A maximum of 25 participants will be selected out of completed applications, on a first-come, first-served basis

Must be a resident of Maine

Does not have to reside in the Midcoast area, can live anywhere in the state of Maine. All will need to attend required events, outlined below.

Must be at least 16 and no more than 22 years of age, on August 1, 2023

May only participate one year
-
Have no past or pending civil or criminal charges, other than moving violations

Applications must be received by June 30

Pay a $100 application fee
As an accepted applicant, you will:

Volunteer a minimum of four hours for set up before the festival opens, and four hours during the festival.

Be required to abide by Maine State Laws pertaining to illicit drugs, alcohol, or any illegal substance use.

Abide by social media guidelines (to be provided) related to the festival.

Wear professional or formal attire for the coronation event. If you are unable to supply clothing like this, the Coronation Committee will provide support (coronation@mainelobsterfestival.com).
Awards:
Along with the duties outlined below, the winner, runner up, and Miss/Mr Congeniality will be awarded a cash price in the following denominations:
Winner: $2,000
Runner Up: $1,500
Miss/Mr Congeniality: $500
*Note that a valid W9 must be filled out completely in order to receive an award.
All participants who complete the application requirements, outlined on this page, including participating in the required events below, will receive a $100 donation to the local non-profit of their choice, pending final approval from the Coronation Committee.

Schedule Requirements:
Following the application process, selected people will attend a series of events leading up to the 76th Maine Lobster Festival. These events will be used for judges to get to know the participants, build relationships with other participants, gain knowledge of the fishing/lobster industry, and to have fun.
It is recommended that each participant makes every effort to attend all pre-festival events that are not listed as a required event. This will give participants information needed for potential questions, the knowledge and experience they can take with them, and to interact with other participants.
Pre-Coronation Events/Tours:
We are working to finalize the schedule of events and will share as soon as we are able. Pre-Coronation events will be scheduled to start the second week of July.
Post-Coronation Events:
The Big E - Held in West Springfield, MA, this event is an annual fair held in September. It is the fifth largest state fair in the country and serves as an important venue to draw in visitors to the Maine Lobster Festival. The winning contestant will be asked to attend and represent the festival for part of this event. Dates to come.

- Maine Lobster Festival Delegate Banquet – Evening of July 28, 2023
- Dress Rehearsal (typically held on the afternoon of the Coronation)
- Coronation Event – August 2, 2023
- *If selected as the winner or runner-up - attend the festival each day (August 2 - 6, 2023 )
