Yellowlegs Art Tile

This hand-carved art tile is a perfect gift - every birder will love this ceramic tile featuring a Yellowlegs. The framed tile is just 7.5" square, so you could add interest to a small wall or create a grouping with other wall tiles from my shop. This carved tile was handbuilt starting with a slab of clay cut to size (allowing for shrinkage to fit a 6" space). Once it had dried enough, I coated the entire surface with a black underglaze. I carved the design by scratching away the background, adding a touch of color and carving the details, This process is called sgraffito. After glazing and firing, the tile was placed in a purchased black wooden frame and is ready to hang.
