Description

As we step into the new world of Post Covid; our wonderment for the world seems to be on high alert. A sense that everything is brighter and fuller confronts us as we try to accept this rebirth of our world. A mother's love is the one that guides and helps us into this new world. A protector that is forever there.

For many of us, our identity is tied to memories from our childhood. There are moments when we see an image, and we are taken to another time and place. One that seemed simpler. My goal is to find these triggers of memory. However, I also try to find a way to give us a deeper sense of who we are today by using these images from the past. By doing this, there is a bridge between the vintage style and a modern perspective. What is old becomes new. A contemporary vision of our reality. For the past thirty years I have traveled throughout the US and shown my work at various juried artfairs and galleries. Educated at the New York Studio Program at Parsons School of Art in NYC and Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. I also have a degree in Mass Communications in Carleton University in Ottawa Canada. This initial degree taught me to look at the meaning of images and how they effect our world. Using this knowledge, this body of work developed to find ways to use Pop Cultural references and create stories that relate to our present day experience. I currently live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with my husband and two kids. My studio is downtown Toronto, however, I travel a great deal throughout the United States and bring my Art to different Art Fairs throughout the US.

A special group of pieces that brings childhood and mothering into the spotlight. Each piece brings back a sliver of memory. Swinging your child around in circles, watching as they spend hours spinning a hula hoop are all moments that are fleeting, yet present in our memory. What triggers memory? A song, a phrase, a familiar face; these are the things that I use in order for the viewer to be part of the work. Working with layers of collage and paint, I obscure, highlight and bring forth a moment from the past. Each piece is a vision of present through the lens of the past. I studied painting at Parsons School of Art and Design in New York City and received a BFA from Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. I also hold a BA with honours degree in Mass Communications from Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. Currently I work from my studio in East Toronto and travels through the US exhibiting in top art fairs across the country. I have won several Awards and Grants from Ontario Arts Council and is represented by several galleries in Toronto and is in several corporate collections in North America.
