Vibrant Landscapes in the style Wolf Kahn

Wolf Kahn was known as an abstract expressionist who painted landscapes that walked the line between realistic and abstract. His woodland landscapes used atypical colors and tall skinny trees on a background with different planes of color. Lets create a landscape like Wolf Khan on your 4 x 6 canvas board using oil pastels from your Crealdé Art To Go box. To begin, color in wide bands of horizontal color for the horizon line, mountains, valleys, lakes, etc. Fill the entire board and don’t be afraid to overlap. When you have covered the board use a paper towel wrapped around your finger to blend using horizontal strokes. Next ,select a contrasting color and make long vertical strokes for trees. You can select to put start them all on one plane or make some in the background or middle ground as you prefer. Use a second color to add dimension then blend using vertical strokes.
