This handmade ceramic sugar and creamer set is inspired by the beauty of Thailand and their majestic elephants. A perfectly elegant set for your fine dining table accented with 24 k gold lustre. I made the lidded jar on my pottery wheel out of white stoneware clay. It holds around 12 ounces and is 4.5" high x 4.5" across.  The creamer is also about 4.5” high. The lid is kind of a ceramic pillow made with 2 slabs of clay which I formed together to fit the base. The top is a lovely textured lace pattern topped by the 24 k knob.I drew the elephants using a process called mishima, where I first carve the image into leather hard clay and then fill with colored slip. After being once fired, I add color, dip in clear, food safe glaze and fire again.Lastly, the more gold is carefully applied and the pieces are fired in the kiln for a third and final time. A wonderful gift for wedding or anniversary.
