Night Light - Porcelain Lithophane "Mission-Prairie Style" Art Deco, Wright inspired, Tree of Life themed wall plug in accent light

Frank Lloyd Wright inspired Porcelain lithophane plug in night light, featuring a beautiful forest scene. Handmade in our studios, it is practical and timeless, made using a lost art from the 1800's. When lit from behind, the light shining through the different thicknesses of the carving causes a highly detailed image to appear in front, almost magically. As you see, the illuminated image is so detailed, that it has a totally photographic quality to it! In addition, the relief of the carving gives the image a 3 dimensional quality when seen in person. These are not plastic, they are genuine porcelain. They will not fade, discolor, or warp with time. We have thousands of customers that have owned one of our lithophanes for literally decades. The porcelain is 3 1/2" x 4 1/2". ~Non porous and cleanable. ~Complete with UL listed 120v night light plug for the US and Canadian market, and a 7w incandescent bulb. ~Nicely boxed with a descriptive insert telling about this fascinating art form. ~Perfect for bathrooms or kitchens, where the outlet is up higher and you can see the image. ~It also works well to light up a dark hall or stairway. ~The porcelain is strong, but it is breakable like glass, so not recommended for a toddler's room. I start by carving the image in a translucent wax, with the wax lit from behind. I then take a plaster mold of this engraving, and we then cast a fine porcelain clay into this mold. We then kiln fire the porcelain to 2300 degrees F. to achieve it's translucency and durability. Lithophanes were invented in France in 1827, and were popular throughout Europe till the early 1900's. They mysteriously faded from popularity with the advent of electricity, which is ironic as they look way better with electric light than candles. I collect antique lithophanes, and first started making them 32 years ago by reproducing the antique ones. I eventually learned how to engrave my own originals, and this has been my living since then.
