Description

N466. Batman Pinback Button on Nickel Silver with Joker Necklace. I prong-set a metal Batman pinback button on a nickel silver disc. The chain is from a broken vintage black glass bead rosary, with a Cracker Jack/gumball Joker charm at the back. The necklace length is adjustable at 18.75”, 20”, & 21.25”; the pendant measures 1.5” diameter. Batman first appeared in Detective Comics (#27) in 1939 as the “Bat-Man”. He became so popular that he gained his own comic book in 1940 (in which the supervillain “The Joker” first appeared). Batman remains one of the most popular of DC superheroes.

Meet your seller

Pauline's Jewelry Box

My jewelry reflects my passion for antiquing & recycling. I love working with early plastics (e.g., bakelite), found objects (e.g., vintage pinback buttons, lithograph tin, old bottle tops, transit tokens, electrical resisters, etc.), broken vintage jewelry & charms, metal (especially copper), & gemstone beads to create something fun & interesting to wear. I use a variety of techniques in my work, including cold connections, texturing, soldering, riveting, wire-wrapping, enameling, & forming. I take jewelry classes at the Des Moines Art Center, & enjoy learning & experimenting with new techniques. Each piece of jewelry I design is unique, & comes with a story that describes the history of the materials used &/or the message/meaning of the work.
