Description
This early fishing reel patent was invented by the gunsmith William Billinghurst.
He attributed a number of improvements including line drying, convenient carriage and the speed with which his reel could retrieve line. The reel photographed here is an early version, consistent with the patent drawings, that did not have a folding handle. Latter versions of this reel did have a folding handle.
