"Florida Bird Series 3"

This stunning hand-colored etching displays four large birds that make Florida their winter home, three of which are here year-round. The Roseate Spoonbill, Brown Pelican, White Pelican, and Tricolored Heron are often seen in water environments searching for aquatic prey. Occasionally one might view all four in the same general location, like hitting a grand slam. This etching is hand-made on 4 large copper plates, each plate containing different birds and two colors of inks. In addition to the Arches rag paper used for the etching, the inks and paints employed to create the etching are of the highest quality. Each etching in the edition requires precise hand-wiping to attain proper tones. Two weeks after the ink dries, another full day of hand-coloring is required to finish the piece. Because of all the hand work involved, no two pieces are exactly the same. The etching has a 2” border of paper around the image with a beautiful, deckled edge.
