Cleistocactus samaipatanus 'golden rat tail'

Cleistocactus samaipatanus is a renowned hybrid of Akersia roseiflora and an Echinopsis hybrid. Its tall, slender stems are adorned with stiff golden spines that add to its unique appearance. As each stem ages and becomes more woody, it should be pruned to promote new growth. The flowers of Cleistocactus samaipatanus are a mesmerizing lilac pink and are considered some of the finest hybrid cactus blooms. These vibrant flowers remain open throughout the night and can last up to 2-4 days. If there is a risk of a Hard frost, they can be moved indoors to a sunny window or under a grow light.
