This is the first of 5 patents that Ernst Gundlach was awarded for improvements to the microscope. The fine adjustments outlined in this patent were included in the first Bausch & Lomb microscope shown in this print. Gundlach left Bausch & Lomb and started his own microscope company. Bausch & Lomb witnessed the patent document. Their signatures are included on this print from the patent filing. Interestingly, Lomb's name was typed incorrectly as "Lumb" and he also signed it incorrectly.
