I describe color, texture, dimension, perspective, light and spirit through the mediums of soft pastels and charcoal. I love the primitive and raw quality of basically using ground earth and burnt wood. My subject matter continues to expand and I have been fortunate to travel to many of our National Parks and observe wildlife that is truly wild. I spend a lot of time in the field photographing, observing and sometimes sketching. Carefully studying movement, taking note of body language, and essentially understanding a species' culture helps me bring layers and richness and soul to my paintings.
