This intriguing wall piece is one of three pieces (1754, 1752, 1753) that can be used as a set or individually. The unique designs reflect the artist’s observation of nature and years of scuba diving, plant life, textures and terrain.
Handbuilt with Cone 6, B-mix white clay slabs, the surface was covered with a black slip. When leather hard, the surface was hand carved with an original design, fired, then painted with various underglazes. The surface was wiped off so the underglaze stayed in the recesses, then the piece was glaze trailed and covered with a final glaze dip. Fired in oxidation to 2200ºF. The back was set up with a stabilizing structure to keep the front face from slumping in the firing and is wired for hanging. Purchase the SET of three for $650.
