Beginning sketch that turned into finished fine art. Acrylic mixed media by Cindy Aune. This piece exposes the underpainting and the texture more than most of my work. As I worked on this piece, I decided it was finished at this stage.

I have been an artist all of my life, I just did not realize it until 2010. I have always enjoyed drawing, painting, building and creating. Turns out, that makes me an artist.
My work is acrylic mixed media, usually large scale, as small is a frustration to me. My imagination seems to create only colorful big abstracted forms with limited detail. Subjects are a combination of whimsy and reality, or as my friend described it, "whimsical with a dark underbelly". I invite the viewer to look beneath the surface of my work, seeking the underlying tones, textures and shapes. I often experiment with unconventional tools, my fingers and paper towels applying pigments in a loose fluid style.
My path has been an expression of the necessities of life. For 25 years I owned a wholesale business focusing on earning an income. Life events closed that business. I can now focus on my creative spirit and have the freedom to create whatever I can image.
