Azaleas symbolize femininity and softness and represent taking care of yourself and your loved ones. What a beautiful, gentle reminder for self care. When I was a little girl we would pick the azaleas off the stems and float them in a bowl of water. Now when I think of that, it will remind me to treat myself to a long bath and some peace and quiet. I love the way azaleas feel exotic and somehow casual and cute at the same time. The fluid ink splatters are free and wild, but contained in the soft, elegant petals and held together by the intricate machine embroidery at the core of this beauty. 30" x 30" x 2.5" acrylic paint, machine embroidery, pastels, colored pencils, and mixed media on wood panel. sealed with a subtle satin varnish to protect from light and dust.
