Though Rachael Newman calls coastal South Carolina home, she and her husband enjoy equal time traveling to art festival in their Airstream trailer or cruising in their sailboat. Each of these aspects of her life influences her art. Water flows through all her paintings, but the majority are atmospheric seascapes with obscure horizon lines. She often adds a small boat or whisper of land to draw the viewer into her serene world. Her other primary genre is water lilies featuring bold flower colors and reflective pools where she lets her impressionist side shine. She is driven by an innate sense of aesthetics, balance and shape featuring components of nature, water, creativity, and solitude.
