THE JOURNEY. A woman at the Royal Ontario Museum admires Norval Morrisseau's 1973 painting Migration. Anishinaabe artist Norval Morrisseau was a painter, carver, draughtsman, storyteller, teacher, Grand Shaman, and was dubbed the “Picasso of the North” by the French press. Morrisseau invented the pictographic style of painting now known as the Woodland School. Framed in a classic black frame with a white canvas insert and a white bevel moulding with a gold strip on the inside edge. Oil on hardboard 12 x 12 Inches
