Olympian Divinity

“...she is with everyone and in everyone, and so beautiful is her secret that no person can know the sweetness with which she sustains people, and spares them in inscrutable mercy." — Hildegard von Bingen "Olympian Divinity" is the High Priestess card in my tarot deck, Feral Hearts, which is being published by US Games Systems, Inc. It represents the ferocity and tenderness of Hera, the Queen of Heaven, and goddess of marriage, and childbirth. Feral Hearts Tarot is a collection of art rooted deeply in Greek mythology. Mythology was once described to me as a method of coping with our own humanity. We needed a bit of "taming" and lessons taught and learned through myths like those the Greeks created provided that, and perhaps unintentionally, epic mysticism and wonder that would stand the test of time. I hope the work I create for this deck embraces the raw, unfiltered nature of our hearts as I seek to celebrate the stories I've loved since I was a little girl.
