Handmade wheel thrown ceramic mixing bowl is perfect for pancakes, cake batter, scrambled eggs... you name it! It is made to function with its deep interior, hand crafted pouring spout, and handle for easy pouring. Thrown on the potter’s wheel, the bowl has a decorative split rim and hand- shaped spout. An attached handle opposite the spout makes for easy pouring. The bottom of the bowl sits on a trimmed round foot, giving it added lift. A wax-resist pattern gives it a "patchwork" quality. The bowl was soda fired cone 10.

Soda Firing is a method of firing where a soda solution is sprayed into the kiln, creating a glaze that deposits on the clay pieces. The unique surface and coloring of soda fired pottery is achieved through a combination of choice of clay bodies, slips, glazes, and the atmospheric conditions in the kiln during the firing process.

I make functional pottery with the aim of bringing beauty and pleasure into a person’s daily life. My pottery usually starts on the wheel and is further embellished by hand. My objective is to have every piece I make reflect my aesthetic and the unpredictable nature of the soda firing process. My goal is to create work that honors and continues the long tradition of handmade pottery.
