Description

Creosote Cove Oil on Canvas 16"h x 40"w Painted plein air from the boat deck of “Victory”. In fact, that is “Victory’s” stern line attached to those old pilings. Named “Creosote Cove” by the local pirates, this secret harbor was where many of the fleet hung out during the winter. The railroad embankment provided some shelter, but the harbor is mostly unprotected from wind and large wakes. We got beat by the wind a few times. It was ideal for boats on the hook because the shore and bottoms were condemned as a toxic super-fund. High lead levels remain from the old creosote factory that used to be here. That sign on the tree is a high lead warning to stay out. This kept most of the public away from the zone, save for the occasional paintball battles. The “pirates”, however, had a key to the gate. Creosote Cove is an original oil painting, with an artists studio slat frame. The canvas is on a heavy, durable, artist made stretcher. Packed with care for a safe delivery.  Shipped UPS. Paintings by Phil Fake

Greetings, I am a Narrative Urban Landscape Artist that works in oil paints. I enjoy sharing visual stories of the urban experience. The scenes in my paintings are more than urban plein air landscapes. You'll find allegory and visual clues within the compositions that comment on our place and times. After painting a canvas I find creative ways to share the art 'story'. That could mean capturing a small 'moment', or reproducing a whole landscape, as a Gicleé. I print all the Gicleé's in my workshop. I hope you enjoy viewing my work.
