English Glaive handcrafted from solid American Hickory. THE GLAIVE: English Glaives were historically used in infantry and castle defense. Highly regarded for their effectiveness in hand to hand combat, experts with Pole Arm weapons were deadly in combat. Each contour of our spear is individually shaped and sanded by the sword smith to create it’s unique form. This devotion to detail results in a superior grip, heft, and balance. This is truly beautiful functional art you can fight with. THE WOOD: This Glaive is constructed with Hickory, a superior wood that offers the flex needed in a Pole Arm weapon. THE SPECS: Overall Length: 72 in Head Length: 15.5 in THE CARE : Each spear is treated with a special, non-toxic, sword salve that is handcrafted in our shop. This protects it from weather and prolongs the life of your spear. Upon receiving your spear, it is a good idea to use a soft cloth to buff the wax into the wood. THE GUARANTEE: All of our spears do come with a lifetime guarantee that if they ever break in battle we will fix or replace them. OUR BACKGROUND: At Hollow Earth, we developed the original hickory sparring weapon. Through many years of testing we have found hickory to be the superior American hardwood for sparring weapons. We founded our company in 1984, and as my children have grown up, so has the business. Now we proudly involve three generations of our family in making our fine wooden weapons.
