Description

N505. Riveted “Stained Glass” Tin on Copper & Rosary Chain Necklace. For the pendant, I used copper rivets to secure a piece of lithograph tin on copper I'd textured with vintage lace. Lithography is a printing method dating to the 1790s; used during the early/mid-20th century to make brightly colored toys, TV trays, lunch boxes, candy containers, & doll houses, etc. The pattern on this tin reminds me of stained glass with blocks of color separated by black lines. The chain is from a broken vintage rosary; the necklace is adjustable at 19”, 20.5”, & 22” around; the pendant measures 1”” x 1 3/8”.

Meet your seller

Pauline's Jewelry Box

My jewelry reflects my passion for antiquing & recycling. I love working with early plastics (e.g., bakelite), found objects (e.g., vintage pinback buttons, lithograph tin, old bottle tops, transit tokens, electrical resisters, etc.), broken vintage jewelry & charms, metal (especially copper), & gemstone beads to create something fun & interesting to wear. I use a variety of techniques in my work, including cold connections, texturing, soldering, riveting, wire-wrapping, enameling, & forming. I take jewelry classes at the Des Moines Art Center, & enjoy learning & experimenting with new techniques. Each piece of jewelry I design is unique, & comes with a story that describes the history of the materials used &/or the message/meaning of the work.
