After a week aboard a 40ft catamaran sailing around the northern tip of Sardinia, we made headed back to the marina to depart the island. It was a lazy day back...swimming in the morning, sailing along the coast, and a stop for a fresh mediterranean boat lunch. As we were running our last leg back to port, we overtook a sailboat with a family aboard. Two adults and a girl shaded from the sun in the cockpit, and upfront on the prow, sat a young boy dangling his legs over the side. The water moved like liquid glass. The reflections of the bow, the hull, and the boy's skin reflected in the water. "606" refers to the numbers on the side of the hull distorted in the reflections on the water.
From the painting point of view, I have been thinking about painting close-up views of the different patterns of light and color that show up on the surface of water for quite a few years. It was never the right time to explore it more fully, just an occasional piece here and there. So with "606" and my other recent water paintings, I have given myself more time to investigate this ever elusive muse. This feels incredibly satisfying.
Our Signed and Numbered Canvas Giclees are printed on canvas and are the same size as the original painting. By printing on canvas, the colors achieved are bright and vivid, mirroring the intensity of Grant's originals. Our canvas giclees are stretched on heavy duty stretcher bars and are museum wrapped (the painting continues around the sides), adding a three dimensional studio feel and creating the option to hang them unframed for a more contemporary look. Each one is signed on the front and signed and numbered on the back. Our Signed and Numbered Canvas Giclee are in an edition of 100 (there are only 100 ever made).
