Description
I created this bold flower brooch by crocheting and then felting pure wool yarn in shades of red, variegated reds, and moss green. The center of the flower was crocheted using a combination of permanently-colored gold copper wire, metallic thread, and tiny orange red and green glass beads. I embroidered the details on the felted leaf with green metallic thread.
This substantial brooch is about 9 inches across at the widest point, which includes the leaf. The flower is 6 1/2 inches in diameter. The silver metal pin back measures 1 1/2 inches across and is hand sewn to a wool felt circle, secured to the back of the brooch.
This felted floral beauty looks amazing on a scarf or shawl, and makes a gorgeous addition to a coat lapel, bag or hat!
