N459. Aluminum Horse Candy Mold Riveted on Copper Necklace. I made this necklace with a vintage aluminum candy mold in the shape of a horse's head that I riveted on copper I'd textured with vintage lace. I also cut out a horse head silhouette on the back. For the chain, I used rainbow agate gemstone beads & silvertone links from 2 different vintage necklaces, with a horse charm at back. The necklace measures up to 21” around, but can be worn shorter. The pendant measures 1.5” x 2”.

My jewelry reflects my passion for antiquing & recycling. I love working with early plastics (e.g., bakelite), found objects (e.g., vintage pinback buttons, lithograph tin, old bottle tops, transit tokens, electrical resisters, etc.), broken vintage jewelry & charms, metal (especially copper), & gemstone beads to create something fun & interesting to wear. I use a variety of techniques in my work, including cold connections, texturing, soldering, riveting, wire-wrapping, enameling, & forming. I take jewelry classes at the Des Moines Art Center, & enjoy learning & experimenting with new techniques. Each piece of jewelry I design is unique, & comes with a story that describes the history of the materials used &/or the message/meaning of the work.
