N492. Brass Cameo with Serpentine, Qing Jade, Turquoise & Other Beads Necklace. I made this necklace with a vintage cameo I round at a flea market. For the chain, I used a variety of beads, including Serpentine, Qing Jade & Turquoise gemstone beads, as well as glass, crystal & brass beads, & brass cable links. The chain length is adjustable from 18” to 22.5”; the pendant measures 1” by 1.75”.

My jewelry reflects my passion for antiquing & recycling. I love working with early plastics (e.g., bakelite), found objects (e.g., vintage pinback buttons, lithograph tin, old bottle tops, transit tokens, electrical resisters, etc.), broken vintage jewelry & charms, metal (especially copper), & gemstone beads to create something fun & interesting to wear. I use a variety of techniques in my work, including cold connections, texturing, soldering, riveting, wire-wrapping, enameling, & forming. I take jewelry classes at the Des Moines Art Center, & enjoy learning & experimenting with new techniques. Each piece of jewelry I design is unique, & comes with a story that describes the history of the materials used &/or the message/meaning of the work.
