B337. Jazz & Big Band Music Charm Bracelet. I made this bracelet with vintage Cracker Jack/gumball charms representing Jazz & Big Band music. Charms include 2 Capitol records (Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee, Dean Martin), an RCA record (Eddie Fisher), a piano, 2 album covers (Gershwin & Artie Shaw), a trumpet, a saxophone, a guitar, & a drum. The album cover charms are especially hard to find, as the little labels usually came off or were damaged over time. The chain is silver-tone curb. The bracelet measures 8.25” long, but can be worn shorter.

My jewelry reflects my passion for antiquing & recycling. I love working with early plastics (e.g., bakelite), found objects (e.g., vintage pinback buttons, lithograph tin, old bottle tops, transit tokens, electrical resisters, etc.), broken vintage jewelry & charms, metal (especially copper), & gemstone beads to create something fun & interesting to wear. I use a variety of techniques in my work, including cold connections, texturing, soldering, riveting, wire-wrapping, enameling, & forming. I take jewelry classes at the Des Moines Art Center, & enjoy learning & experimenting with new techniques. Each piece of jewelry I design is unique, & comes with a story that describes the history of the materials used &/or the message/meaning of the work.
