Description
This sweet landscape is made using a single sheet of poplar for the background, which created the sky, the land in the background and the swamp below the dragonfly. The grasses are also poplar, but from a dark green heartwood. The blue and yellow of the dragonfly are dyed veneers. And, yes, the little yellow pieces were cut out and inserted into the background. The veins of the wings I create by scoring into the veneer after it has been glued to the backer board. The moment I apply the lacquer the wings pop into view. In all a lovely nature scene with simple elements creating interest.

No two pictures are identical as wood grain has infinite variability and no two pieces of wood are the same. The pieces are sealed with either lacquer or a hand rubbed oil and wax finish. Pictures are framed, ready to be hung. Jane also accepts commissions, making pictures to specific sizes and colors according to the customer's preferences.
