Description
The background on this picture is one solid piece of veneer, all the way from the light sapwood representing the sky to the heartwood of the water in the foreground. The leaves of the cattail is also poplar, but the actual cattail is a really lovely piece of walnut that naturally had a shadow on one said which helps make the cattail look cylindrical. I also love the grain of that piece of walnut as it looks so much like a real cattail.
The blue and green I used for the dragonfly are dyed. And, yes, I actually inserted little strips of walnut to represent the legs.
The frame is overall black with a light grey powdery look.
Lacquer finish.

No two pictures are identical as wood grain has infinite variability and no two pieces of wood are the same. The pieces are sealed with either lacquer or a hand rubbed oil and wax finish. Pictures are framed, ready to be hung. Jane also accepts commissions, making pictures to specific sizes and colors according to the customer's preferences.
