This piece was in my personal collection until 2020, which is why the price has been marked down from $695.
The colors in this picture are subtle, with wood species of similar color but with vastly different grain, The background behind the butterfly is a lovely maple burl. The mat around it is a 4 way book matched quilted ash. The frame has a slight gold shimmer but is overall brown.
Lacquer finish.

Jane Burke makes framed marquetry pictures using wood veneers of different species and colors to create lovely representations of nature, people and whatever takes her fancy. No two pictures are identical as wood grain has infinite variability and no two pieces of wood are the same. The pieces are sealed with either lacquer or a hand rubbed oil and wax finish. Pictures are framed, ready to be hung. Jane also accepts commissions, making pictures to specific sizes and colors according to the customer's preferences.
