The lovely background behind the phoebe is a lovely piece of burled maple. The border is oak and the bird and branch are made up of different pieces of walnut.

Jane Burke makes framed marquetry pictures using wood veneers of different species and colors to create lovely representations of nature, people and whatever takes her fancy. No two pictures are identical as wood grain has infinite variability and no two pieces of wood are the same. The pieces are sealed with either lacquer or a hand rubbed oil and wax finish. Pictures are framed, ready to be hung. Jane also accepts commissions, making pictures to specific sizes and colors according to the customer's preferences.
