The North Carolina Fossil Festival celebrates the Aurora Fossil Museum and the rich fossil record of North Carolina. Join us for a family-friendly event steeped in tradition and good old-fashioned southern charm. Activities include digging for fossils, fossil displays, fossil auction, educational displays by partner nonprofit organizations, movie night, parade, live entertainment, food & craft vendors, dinosaur shows, glow party, and much, much more!

About the application

On Memorial Day, the Aurora Fossil Museum will host a Veteran's & First Responder’s breakfast to show our appreciation of those who have served and serve our country and the Aurora Community. Veteran's & First Responder’s Breakfast Crew will help with the following: -- Setup and prepare the Aurora Community Building on Sunday for the Monday breakfast. -- Cleanup and ensuring all tables, chairs, and other related items are taken down after the breakfast is over on Monday. Volunteer Perks: 4+ hours: A 2023 NC Fossil Festival Crew shirt! 6+ hours: Receive lunch on us and a 2023 NC Fossil Festival Crew shirt! 12+ hours: Receive lunch on us, a 2023 NC Fossil Festival Crew shirt, and a 2023 NC Fossil Festival shirt! 20+ hours: Receive all of the above, PLUS A 2023 NC FOSSIL FESTIVAL CHALLENGE COIN! Each volunteer slot is on a first-come, first-serve basis so sign up ASAP! Please see below to sign-up to help us thank our Veterans and First Responders.

Please read all the information below before beginning your application. As a volunteer, you are responsible for understanding all terms and conditions. By submitting your application, you agree to all North Carolina Fossil Festival Terms and Conditions. -- Applying does not guarantee acceptance into the festival. -- Only applications submitted through this webpage will be accepted. -- Applications received by mail or email will automatically be rejected. -- A committee selects applicants by volunteer application only. -- Incomplete applications will not be considered. -- Applications missing photos will not be considered. -- Applications are due by 6 pm EST on May 06, 2023. -- Volunteers will be notified via email of the decision. -- Additional information will not be supplied between submission of and decision. -- Following the approval email, the approved volunteers will receive information regarding volunteer introduction training date and check-in locations. By submitting this application, I agree to hold the Aurora Fossil Museum Foundation, Inc., the Town of Aurora, and the North Carolina Fossil Festival harmless for any injury or loss to any person, equipment, property, or goods for any cause whatsoever. I also agree that the stated organizations cannot be held responsible for any claims for damage, injury, or loss arising from or in connection with using the space or grounds during the North Carolina Fossil Festival. Volunteers not adhering to the terms and conditions will be asked to leave festival area and will not be allowed to participate in future Fossil Festivals.
