Welcome to the Handler Team!
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Handler for the Huntsville Comic & Pop Culture Expo! This is one of the most exciting and interactive volunteer roles at the event, and we’re thrilled you’re considering joining the team.
As a Handler, you’ll be working directly with talent—helping manage their lines, assisting with photo ops and autographs, communicating needs to staff, and ensuring they have a smooth, comfortable, and positive experience throughout the Expo.
Handlers often serve as the bridge between talent, the public, and the event team—so professionalism, kindness, and confidence go a long way.
A few key things to know as a new Handler:
You may be assigned to a celebrity guest, voice actor, comic creator, or other talent—and each one has different expectations and comfort levels.
You’ll help control the flow of fans, answer basic questions, and support the talent’s schedule and needs.
Customer service, patience, and good communication are essential—this role is people-focused from start to finish.
Respect and confidentiality are critical. Handlers must maintain professionalism at all times—no selfies, autographs, or personal fan behavior while on duty.
Training will be provided so you know what to expect, what to say, and what to do in common scenarios.
You don’t have to be an expert—just reliable, friendly, and willing to help. We’ll guide you every step of the way.
Thank you again for applying to be part of the Handler Team. We can’t wait to see you in action and welcome you into one of the most memorable roles at the Expo!
