About the event

The Big Ole Queer Market's first show was in June of 2023 and to date is the largest market of queer vendors Texas has ever seen. Big Ole Queer Market is just what it sounds like. A huge indoor market featuring LGBTQIA+ owned small businesses and artists. This event happens twice a year at the Palmer Events Center in Austin, TX. More cities coming soon. Currently this event is free to the public and all ages are welcome to attend. We believe shopping locally builds a stronger local economy for all. Join us! You'll be happy you showed up. This market features art and handcrafted items from over 100 local independent artists and small business owners. You'll often find as many as 130 different vendors offering almost anything you can imagine. There is something for everyone and in every price range.

About the application

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for our event! We need your help! We are looking for volunteers to: - Help set up the event -Give vendors 10 min. restroom and food breaks -Assist with handing out giveaway bags -Take photos and videos we can share -Help tear down the event -Any other small duties that arise during the market Also: -No heavy lifting necessary -Plenty of breaks given -Free loading parking access in the service yard -Network with amazing vendors -Make lots of new friends

This is a volunteer only unpaid position and the shifts are anywhere from 2-4 hours long. We really appreciate you! Note: We are looking for reliable help. This shift will include the following duties: -Helping set up the pipe and drape -Chalking the floors -Hanging Signs -Putting out decorations *May also include placing out tables and chairs. There is a company in charge of the pipe and drape and we will be extra hands to ensure proper lay out, spacing, efficiency, etc.
Friday Night "Vendor Move-in" Shift	Palmer Event Center	Nov 28, 2025 5:00 pm - Nov 29, 2025 9:00 pm	4	28
This volunteer shift includes: -Guiding the vendors to their booth spaces -Directing the vendors to the right people for any questions -Helping vendors get everything into their booths (optional)
Saturday "Vendor Move-in" Shift	Palmer Event Center	Nov 29, 2025 8:00 am - 12:00 pm	4	4
This volunteer shift includes the following duties: -Helping vendors locate their booths -Directing vendors to the right people for any questions they may have -Helping vendors get their belongings to their booths (optional)
Saturday "Show Day" Shift	Palmer Event Center	Nov 29, 2025 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm	10	6
Volunteer Duties include: -Giving vendors 10 min breaks so they can use the restroom, go to their cars, or go buy food -dealing with small problems that may arise to keep the event running smoothly. (such as making the day-of-coordinator aware of any broken glass, wet areas, empty water tanks/cups, or anyone lighting candles or burning incense, etc)
Sunday "Show-day" Shift	Palmer Event Center	Nov 30, 2025 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm	10	5
Volunteer Duties include: -Giving vendors 10 min breaks so they can use the restroom, go to their cars, or go buy food -dealing with small problems that may arise to keep the event running smoothly. (such as making the day-of-coordinator aware of any broken glass, wet areas, empty water tanks/cups, or anyone lighting candles or burning incense, etc)
Sunday "Break-down" Shift	Palmer Event Center	Nov 30, 2025 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm	10	3
These duties include: -Taking down decorations -Taking down signs -Disassembling pipe and draping -Organizing draping into neat piles -Packing up remainder of the event items -Packing up the remainder of the Organizer's booth (optional)
