About the application

Businesses, organizations and individuals are invited to help “light up” Johns Creek City Hall by decorating an artificial tree to be enjoyed by City Hall visitors during the Holiday season! Merchants, local groups, neighborhoods, or families are encouraged to participate by selecting a theme to promote their business or organization – or just to celebrate the season! The Johns Creek Recreation and Parks Department is accepting applications for the Holiday Tree Decorating Contest until Nov.21. The entry fee is $25 if bringing your own tree or $100 if one is provided by the City.  The number of City-provided trees is limited. Trees will be outside for the duration of the event. Trees can be pre decorated and dropped off or decorated at City Hall the day of. All trees need to be completed and set up by 3:30 the day of the event. Have fun with your theme that fits your business/organization! Are you a dentist office? How about toothbrush ornaments and floss garland? Are you a pet adoption agency? What about pictures of all adoptable fur-babies? Have FUN and be CREATIVE! After the Holly Jolly Block Party event, your tree will stay up at City Hall through the end of December of the public to see and enjoy!

The first ever Holly Jolly Block Party is a celebration for the whole family and marks the start of the North Fulton holiday season. Join us for an evening of fun and festivities!

Terms & Conditions

All entries will be judged and prizes will be awarded in each of the following categories:
  • Best Overall
  • Most Creative
  • Best Theme
 Criteria for Tree Decorating Contest:
  • All decorations should be securely attached to tree limbs so they will not blow off in the wind or rain. Consider decorations suitable for outdoor conditions. We do not recommend paper or ceramic. No glass allowed.
  • You may display a sign stating the “theme” and identifying the business and/or organization. Have fun!
  • You must provide all decorations for your tree. You are free to express your creativity and originality, but we ask that your tree represent your business, organization or family and be in good taste, suitable for display at a family event.
  • Winners will be announced at the city's Holly Jolly Block Party. 
 Set up information:
  • One tree is allowed per business, organization, group, or family.
  • Trees should be set up for display at your designated space at City Hall by 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3.
  • Groups may begin decorating their trees at noon on Friday, Dec. 2.
  • Judging will take place on Saturday, Dec 3, 2022 at the city’s Holly Jolly Block Party.
  • Electricity will not be available. 
  • You may use battery powered lights and decorations.
  • The applicant or a designee is responsible for maintenance and upkeep of the tree while on display. Please check at least once a week to keep your tree looking its best! This reflects on your business and the city.
  • Trees provided by the applicant must be artificial and between 5’ to 7’ feet tall.
  • The city of Johns Creek cannot be held responsible for any decorations or items lost, broken, or taken while on the trees.
  • Decorations should be properly secured to the tree. Wind and rain can cause damage to some decorations.
Breakdown of trees:The trees and decorations must be removed by December 30. Anything not removed by then will be disposed of.Applicants using city provided trees are only responsible for the removal of the tree decorations by Dec. 30.Applicants using their own trees must have everything removed by Dec. 30. 

Prices

Tree Registration - Bringing our own tree. $25.00 Non-refundable My group will be bringing our own artificial tree. The tree will be between 5ft and 7ft.
Tree Registration - City Provided Tree $100.00 Non-refundable The city will provide one unlit, artificial tree. The tree will be set up prior to the event and will be between 5ft and 7ft tall.
