Sidewalk Chalk Artist Application

We are looking for talented artists to transform the sidewalks of Downtown Smithfield into a vibrant outdoor gallery. Whether you specialize in 3D realism, pop art, or intricate patterns, we want to see your masterpiece!

Event Details
Date: Friday, June 12th
Location: Downtown Smithfield (Assigned squares throughout Downtown)
Canvas Size: Each artist will be assigned a 8x8 concrete square.
The Prize: One "Best in Show" winner will receive a $500.00 cash prize, announced live from the stage during the Liquid Pleasure concert!
Competition Timeline
12:00 PM: Check-in & Chalking Begins (Early start allowed to tackle the large 8x8 space!)
5:00 PM – 7:30 PM: Public Viewing & Official Judging.
8:00 PM: Grand Prize Winner announced at the Neuse River Amphitheatre.

Artist Guidelines & Rules
Medium: Only water-soluble sidewalk chalk or soft pastels may be used. No oil pastels, fixatives, or paints are permitted.
Subject Matter: The Theme is "Spring Wine & Art Walk" - be creative and pick what stands out most to you. This is a family-friendly event. Artwork must be appropriate for all ages (no political, religious, or adult-themed content).
Supplies: We will provide a basic 24-count (13 Color) chalk set. We recommend bringing knee pads, water, and sponges for blending!
Weather: This is a rain-or-shine event. In the case of scattered showers, artists are encouraged to bring plastic sheeting to protect their work.
