About the application

A juried craft festival open to craft vendors who create handmade products. All rules are subject to change at the discretion of the Apple Butter Makin’ Days (ABMD) Committee. Store-bought, market items, or MLM products are not permitted.

About the event

Small-town Americana invites you to enjoy 450+ food and craft booths, live entertainment, contests, outdoor shopping, a KidZone and games. Come experience a family-friendly event over a three-day weekend in the heart of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, rooted deep in tradition. 60 years strong, the biggest highlight is stirring apple butter in old copper kettles on the courthouse lawn. Admission is free, and we have the largest parade in southwest Missouri, wiener dog races, and a fun outdoor shopping experience that will keep you coming back year after year.

Terms & Conditions

Apple Butter Makin’ Days Craft Vendor Rules

The Apple Butter Makin’ Days Committee reserves the right to change rules at any time. By applying, vendors agree to follow these rules. Non-compliance may result in immediate removal and future bans from ABMD festivals.

1.     Booth rental is $200.00 per 10’x10’ space. Payment in full is due by August 1. Cancellations before August 1 receive a full refund; between August 1 and September 1, a 50% refund; and after September 1, no refund. No refund will be given if a vendor or their merchandise is excluded for rule violations after the festival starts.

2.     Craft vendors interested in obtaining a booth at this festival must submit an application along with the following items before approval can be granted:

  1. Photographs & Descriptions: All products must be depicted through photographs and detailed descriptions in the new or returning vendor application. Photographs must be included at the time of application submission and should represent the items to be sold, the raw materials used, and the crafting process. Items not represented in the application may not be offered for sale. If items are not easily identified as handcrafted by the applicant, they may be rejected from the festival by the ABMD Committee at any time. Submitted photos become the property of the ABMD Committee.
  2. All items must be handcrafted by the vendor. Store-bought, market items, or MLM products are not permitted. Items containing foul language, obscene gestures, insinuations, or drug paraphernalia are prohibited. The ABMD Committee will determine what constitutes such content.

3.     Returning vendors must apply by May 1 to get priority booth assignment for the following year's festival. Booth spaces are not guaranteed, and all assignments are decided by the ABMD Committee.

4.     Vendors will be notified of their acceptance, rejection, or waitlist status via electronic communication before the festival.

5.     Vendor check-in procedures will be communicated in advance and must comply with the guidelines set forth. Vendors are required to retain the provided vendor tag and display it visibly in the windshield of their vehicle for the duration of the festival. ABMD is a three-day festival. Crafters must keep their booths open during festival hours: Friday & Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

6.     Vendors must charge and pay the current sales tax at the time of the festival. It is the vendor’s responsibility to verify the current sales tax rate. A Sales Tax Return form is available at Form 53-1 - Sales Tax Return, and a Missouri Special Events Application Form for out-of-state vendors is available at Form 2643S.

7.     All booth spaces are 10’ x 10’. Each craft vendor is expected to remain within the constraints of their rented space(s). No sidewalk or designated walkway shall be impeded by a vendor’s booth, products, nor extension of their booth or products including but not limited to chairs, coolers, bins, etc.

8.     Electricity is not supplied to craft vendors. Quiet generators are permitted only if used to conduct onsite demonstrations of the vendor’s craft and/or making custom orders onsite. Vendors are required to notify the committee at the time of application, if a generator is needed. Using a generator for an unapproved purpose may result in expulsion.

9.     No vehicles are allowed inside barriers to all designated festival areas during festival hours. All vehicles must be outside cones/barriers between 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Sunday.

10.  Vendors are responsible for their own protection from the weather elements. Nothing may be driven into asphalt to secure vendor equipment. Weights are required for all tent corners.

11.  Smoking, vaping, alcohol, or illicit drug use by vendors within designated festival areas may result in permanent expulsion from the festival.

12.  All booth spaces and their contents must be cleared, with trash disposed of in designated receptacles, by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. This allows the city to clean the festival areas in preparation for the next business day. Non-compliance may result in the ABMD Committee assigning the vendor a different booth space or rejecting their application for the next festival.
