AIRPORT GUIDELINES
The management and handling of exhibited items will be under the supervision of the Director of Aviation or designated representative. It is understood that artwork, on loan for a limited time to the Airport, is done so at risk of the artist or owner. The maximum exhibit time is 6 months.
The Airport DOES NOT provide insurance for loss or damage to any loaned artwork. The Airport will exercise the same care with respect to artwork on exhibition as it does in the safekeeping of comparable property of the Airport.
The Director of Aviation or representative will inspect and confirm that all artwork on loan is received in good condition and is appropriate to withstand the ordinary risk of exhibition in a public place. The lender will provide the Airport with any cleaning or care instructions.
The City Legal Department will prepare an Art Loan Agreement for each display in which the artist will agree that in the event of loss or damage, the Airport is free from liability for any and all claims arising out of loss or damage. No long-term storage will be provided for artwork at the airport. The lender will provide the Airport a certificate of insurance for the value of the art which names the Airport as an additional insured during the period of display.
SELECTION PROCESS
The Amarillo Convention and Visitors Bureau Arts Committee will appoint an Arts Committee Airport Art Sub-Committee. The sub-committee will make recommendations to the Arts Committee for approval. The recommendations will be submitted to the Amarillo Airport Board of Managers for final approval.
Artist submissions will be evaluated considering the following:
Originality
Creativity
Appropriateness to the area, City of Amarillo and the Panhandle
General community appeal
Maintenance/longevity of the artwork; preference may be given to pieces requiring less maintenance and better sustainability of materials
Public safety
Quality of materials and execution
Ease of installation
The Arts Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any and all submittals. The Arts Committee will make recommendations to the Amarillo Airport Board of Managers for their final approval. The Airport Board of Managers reserves the right to accept or reject the recommendations from the Arts Committee.

Information on each piece submitted including:
Title of art work
Medium/Materials used
Dimensions of art
Color photos of completed artwork.
If you are submitting a sculpture, please submit color photos of completed artwork from at least three angles.
The digital file must be in jpeg format no more than 1920 pixels at the widest point with a saved size of no less than 1 MB and no more than 3 MB resolution.
Information on how art will be delivered, any special requirements, and how it will be attached to a base (if sculpture).
Art title and artist’s statement must include the origin of the idea, theme, design/creative rationale, etc.
Artist application submissions will be returned to the artist or picked up at the Amarillo Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The Arts Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any and all submittals. The Arts Committee will make recommendations to the Amarillo Airport Board of Managers for their final approval. The Airport Board of Managers reserves the right to accept or reject the recommendations from the Arts Committee.
