Welcome to the The Downtown BBQ Showdown that is being held on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18. We would love for you to join us for this KCBS Downtown BBQ Showdown Cookoff event! By completing this application electronically, you agree to and accept the rules and regulations set forth by the City of Lake City Downtown BBQ Showdown. Our Team Information Packet will be out soon. The purse for the Downtown BBQ Showdown is $10,000. Browse through our applications and let us know if you have any questions. This year we will have the People's Choice Competition, Friday night rib competition, and a pie contest. We encourage all teams to participate. We will provide the Boston Butt for the People's choice all we ask is that you cook and pull it for us. The people will choose the best of the best. We have also added the Great Pie Review Contest. No entry fee to participate. Bake an award-winning pie for some amazing prizes. We encourage you to participate in these fun events. This is an electronic agreement and by selecting the booths, you are validating and approving this agreement electronically. There are no refunds once your application is submitted. The City of Lake City Downtown BBQ Showdown Barbecue Cookoff reserves the right to reject any application. If your application is not accepted, your money will be refunded. Any photos taken of your team onsite become the property of the City of Lake City Downtown BBQ Showdown and may be used for promotional purposes.
The rules and procedures apply to all parties participating in The Downtown BBQ Showdown. The cook Team is required to provide all other materials including items such as outdoor extension cords, water hoses, booths, tables, and chairs. You may need extension cords and water hoses of 50'-100' please plan accordingly. Please have a fire Extinguisher at your location. This time of the year can be windy-tents should be properly weighed down. Please do not plug cords into any business located in the festival area. If you will be supplying your own electrical power using a generator during the hours of the festival, please make sure that it is quite and make note on your application. Set up will be when you arrive and by the size of your rig. Set up times begins anytime on Thursday through Friday at 11:00am. Tents and Tables that would be in the line of traffic coming into set up can be set up after 11:00am on Friday to allow enough space for cook teams to enter the area. Staff will be available to direct you to your location. No vehicles will be allowed to remain in the area. Park your vehicle in the parking lot labeled "Cook team Parking" on the map. Cook Teams should come in off of Marion Avenue when you are driving North on Marion Avenue turn right on Hillsboro Street and a parking attendant will be at Hillsboro and Hernando Street to direct you. I will send out a more detailed map closer to the event. Your space is limited to the square footage you purchased, and this is calculated along the curb. Cook teams are encouraged to remain until the completion of the festival approximately at 5:30pm on Saturday. At the completion of the festival, make sure all trash is properly disposed of. Storm sewer drains are not appropriate for disposal of grease. We will provide a grease container for disposal. We do ask that you participate in the People's Choice Event. We will provide a pork butt for you to cook and it will be judged in the People's Choice for a fundraiser for our local Altrusa Club. We are adding a Friday night rib competition this year. Details in the application for that on Eventeny. Also, consider participating in the Pie Contest. It is free to participate and has great prizes!
Please note that refunds are not available once your application has been accepted and approved.
In consideration of participating in such activity, the participant does hereby release and forever discharge the City of Lake City, its officers, staff, jointly and severally, from any and all actions, causes of injury, which hereafter may be sustained by participants, merchants, vendors, spectators, or others in consequence of participating in the City of Lake City Downtown BBQ Showdown Barbecue Competition event. This release extends and applies to, and also covers and includes, all unknown, unforeseen, unanticipated, and unsuspected injuries, damages, loss and liability, and the consequences thereof, as well as those not disclosed and known to exist. The provisions or any state, federal, local, or territorial law or stature providing in substance that releases shall not extend to claims, demands, injuries, or damages which are unknown or unsuspected to exist at the time, to the person executing such leases, are hereby expressly waived. I hereby agree on behalf of my heirs, executor, administrators, and assigns to indemnify the City of Lake City KCBS Downtown BBQ Showdown Barbecue Competition Event/ City of Lake City, jointly and severally, and hold harmless from and against any and all actions, claims, demands, and liabilities, loss, damages, and expense of whatever kind or nature, including attorney fees, which may at any time be incurred by reason of my participation in the City of Lake City KCBS Downtown BBQ Showdown Barbecue Competition Event. It is further agreed and understood that said allowance of my participation in the City of Lake City KCBS Downtown BBQ Showdown Barbecue Competition event is not to be construed as an admission of any liability and acceptance of assumption of responsibility by the City of Lake City/ City of Lake City KCBS Downtown BBQ Showdown Barbecue Competition Event, its officers and members, jointly and severally, for all damages and expenses for which the City of Lake City KCBS Downtown BBQ Showdown Barbecue Competition event, its officers and staff, jointly and severally, become liable as a result of any alleged act of the festival participant. Signature below indicates that the vendor has carefully read and understands all of the above requirements to participate as a vendor in the City of Lake City KCBS Downtown BBQ Showdown Barbecue Competition event.

| Pie Competition | $0.00 | Non-refundable | The Great Family Pie Review will join the Downtown BBQ Showdown this year. Enter your award winning pie to be judged by professional judges. There is no cost to enter your pie into the contest. It can be any type of pie. We ask that you include your recipe when turning in your pie. There will be first through third place winners. The 1st place winner will receive a trophy and $200 prize. 2nd place winner will receive a trophy and $100.00 prize. 3rd place winner will recive a trophy and $50.00 prize. The entire pie will becomes the property of the BBQ contest. You will not receive any of the pie back after the contest. We hope you will join us for The Great Family Pie Review Contest!! Please turn in your Pie on Saturday, April 18th at the Darby Pavilion, 200 NE Hillsboro Street, Lake City, Fl between the hours of 10:00am and 2:15pm. Please look for the black tent (Beer Tent) on the Northeast side of The Darby Pavilion for turn in. Judging will take place at 2:30pm. Please make sure your pie is at the pie tent by 2:15pm to be included in the contest. |
| People's Choice BBQ Competition | $0.00 | Non-refundable | We will have a our People's Choice again this year. We will provide the meat all you have to do is cook and pull it for us. We have an organization who will be doing a fundraiser for the People's Choice. We will let the people decide who's meat is the best. There will be First through Third place. First place will win $200.00 and a trophy and second will win $100.00 and a trophy, and third will win $50.00 and a trophy. We encourage you to participate in this fun event along with helping to fundraise for one of our local organizations. Please register here to be included in this contest. We will distribute the pork butt on Friday, April 17th. We will pick up from your cook site on Saturday, April 18th at 9:30am. This is a free event. |
