About the application

The 12th annual Live at the Plaza summer concert series is back for 2026! Every Friday in May and June the City will feature a local band in the family-friendly atmosphere of Government Plaza. The shows are held from 6 to 9 p.m., and admission is free and open to the public. A limited number of spaces will be available for mobile food vendors on Gary Fitts Street (6th St).  All food vendors will be required to have an active  mobile food vending license or a City of Tuscaloosa franchise license.  Cost: There is a $25 Non-Refundable fee for each Live at the Plaza event attended. If you pay by credit card, there is an additional credit card processing fee. Credit card invoices will be sent the Monday before the event. Cash and checks (payable to the City of Tuscaloosa) will be accepted at the Special Events office located in the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater. Money will be due by 12 p.m. the Wednesday before the event. No day of payments will be accepted.  Application Deadline: Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Questions? About the event

Live at the Plaza is a free summer concert series that occurs in downtown Tuscaloosa at Government Plaza every Friday in May and June from 6pm to 9pm. The event features local live performances, food trucks, and vendors in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Terms & Conditions

The following guidelines apply to mobile food and beverage vendors this season:  

 

  • All mobile food vendors are required to have an active mobile food vending license or a City of Tuscaloosa franchise license on file, as well as approval from the Tuscaloosa County Health Department.  

  • Payment for each event you have been selected for, will be charged to the card on file included on your application, on Wednesday at 12:00PM noon that week. Please ensure this is the card you would like charged each event. If not, let us know so we can update the payment method for you. If you can no longer attend an event, you must inform us prior to the deadline to cancel your space and prevent your card from being charged. No refunds will be given. 

  • All food trucks will need to line up at the corner of 23rd Ave and Gary Fitts St (6th St) no earlier than 4:55PM.  If you are parked, in the roadway before the line up time, you will be subject to everyday traffic laws. Each truck will load in, single file, on Gary Fitts St in the order in which you are directed by the Special Events staff, one at a time. 

  • Any truck/trailer combination will need to park as directed, unhook the trailer, and relocate the hauling truck to a public parking area nearby immediately.  

  • There will be no special placements or reservations.  

  • May not pull onto the sidewalk or the Government Plaza area.  

  • Load in will begin at 5:00PM and you must be set up and ready by 6:00PM. Please be aware of and anticipate citizens arriving around 5:30PM.   

  • Must stay for the duration of the event’s hours (6:00PM to 9:00PM). No vendor will be permitted to leave until after the event ends and the road is cleared, please do not leave until we instruct you to do so for the safety of citizens.

  • Access to power is not guaranteed and is extremely limited, please bring a generator if you need power.  

  • Vendors are responsible for taking their own garbage with them. No bags of garbage may be left curbside on Gary Fitts St.  

  • The event is rain or shine. However, in the event of complete cancellation due to severe weather, you will be contacted immediately.
