About the registration

Thank you for your interest in EMG's Annual Handmade Markets! Our shows are juried fine art and craft events, and all items are handmade here in the US. No commercial merchandise is accepted. Please be sure to scroll all the way down and read over all the information before applying as we have done our best to answer all your questions before you submit your application! This is an electronic agreement and by selecting the size booth you require, you are validating and approving this agreement electronically. Categories: Listed below are EMG's accepted categories. PLEASE BE SURE TO REVIEW THEM and determine what best describes your body of work. In most cases it describes the raw materials of which the work is comprised. If you are uncertain, make your best guess, and you will be contacted if the jury feels you would best fit in another category (and we can manually change your application) Artists may apply in up to 2 categories. If you sell jewelry, you may apply in a category other than Jewelry if jewelry is less than 10% of your items for sale. Otherwise, you must apply in Jewelry. All work displayed in the booth must be created by the artist in the booth, must be for sale or marked as a display item, and must be representative of the work you have shown in the photos you attach to this application. Apparel: All clothing that is designed and sewn by the artist. No machine-tooled, machine-screen printing, or other forms of mass production are accepted. Die-cut vinyl or other types of transfers onto clothing blanks do not qualify as accepted apparel. All designs created on apparel must be the artists original hand made design. Baskets: Any hand-woven container or vessel using fiber materials other than fabric or materials found in nature which includes basket weaving, chair caning, brooms. Bath & Body: All items created that are intended to be used on the face and body including face scrubs, cleanser, deodorant, beard oil, bath bombs, shower fizzies, hand salves, lotions and creams. Candles: Any wax created item intended for burning. All hand-poured, carved and sculpted candles are permitted. No burning of candles is permitted in either event venue. Clay: Original clay and porcelain work, functional or sculptural. Books: Any book that is written by the author exhibiting/selling it as long as the book is in good taste and does not contain adult content. Fiber Arts: All non-wearable fiber creations including wall hangings, quilts, table runners, place mats, blankets, and other home goods or gift items. Fine Art: Any 2 dimensional work created with pencil, pen, paint, pastel, or other medium. Originals are encouraged, prints are accepted. Florals: Any arrangement of fresh or artificial flowers including tabletop arrangements, wreaths, centerpieces, or hanging floral displays Folk Art: Any decorative or utilitarian item created with either one or a combination of handmade elements, new, synthetic, or recycled components that the artist creates by self-taught means. Folk art reflects values, and cultural celebrations, and is typically a traditional type of craft that was developed by others over time whereby the artist adds their own personal twist to this handed-down form of art work. Glass: Functional and sculptural work is accepted. Kiln forming, blowing, molding, or casting, as well as all cold working processes are permitted. Painting on glass home items is accepted. Gourmet Food – This category is for those exhibitors selling prepackaged gift food items. All items need to be packed in a sealed container and/or gift wrapped or displayed as a gift. If an exhibitor wants to sell items intended for on-site consumption or items whose packaging can be easily opened to be consumed on site. they will be required to pay a premium to the DEC, amount to be determined depending on the type of food item they wish to sell. Typically this premium is $300 for the weekend, but approval and fees are at the discretion of the DEC Concession Director. Once an exhibitor is accepted in this category, they will need to contact the Dulles Expo Center (DEC) to have their food items approved, as they cannot compete with the DEC’s Concession Stand without paying a premium. Additionally each gourmet food exhibitor will need to contact the Fairfax County Health Department, make sure they meet their standards complete & file their documents and be prepared for a health inspection in their booth at 9:00 am on Friday November 12th (opening day of the show. ) Upon Acceptance, the exhibitor will be sent the proper documents and contact information to comply with the above guidelines. Holiday Crafts – Any handcrafted item that is designed as a holiday decoration, or holiday gift item. Jewelry: Personal adornment or wearable art other than Apparel. Only those artists accepted in the jewelry category may display or sell jewelry. Leather – Any handcrafted item other than jewelry made of leather. Metal: Sculptural or decorative work made from metal. No jewelry will be accepted in this category. Mixed Media: Work which combines materials from two or more mediums in one piece. Musical Instruments: Handmade instruments. Pet Products: Any item created to be used for animals, including, collars and leashes, attire, treats, chews, toys, bedding, grooming or other pet oriented items Photography: Includes traditional film photography, hand-colored images, emulsion transfers, and digital photography. Only artist’s original source material is acceptable. Printmaking: Only hand-pulled original prints are allowed. Prints must be in limited editions, signed, and numbered. Sculpture: Three-dimensional work using additive or subtractive processes in a single medium. Toys: Any handmade item that is intended to be used for play by a child. These can be made of any materials as long as they are not toxic to children. Wood: Original works that are hand tooled, machine-worked, turned or carved.

Prices

Single Booth $520.00 Single booth space is 10 feet wide and 10 feet deep. All booth spaces come with a 10-foot high back drape and two 3-foot high side drapes to separate each booth. Most booth spaces at the Northern Virginia Christmas Market have approximately 5 feet of storage behind them. PLEASE BE SURE that if you want your 10x10 booth on a corner, that you select the corner tab below ($50 charge) and add it to your "shopping cart"
Double booth $970.00 A double booth is 20 feet long and 10-feet deep. All booth spaces come with a 10-foot high back drape and two 3-foot high side drapes to separate each booth. Most booth spaces at the Northern Virginia Christmas Market have approximately a 10 feet long x 5 feet deep storage area behind them. PLEASE BE SURE that if you want your 10x20 booth on a corner, that you select the corner tab below ($50 charge) and add it to your "shopping cart"
Booth & 1/2 $720.00 A booth & 1/2 is 15-feet long and 10-feet deep. All booth spaces come with a 10-foot high back drape and two 3-foot high side drapes to separate each booth. Most booth spaces at the Northern Virginia Christmas Market have approximately 5 feet (depth) of storage behind them. PLEASE BE SURE that if you want your 10x115 booth on a corner, that you select the corner tab below ($50 charge) and add it to your "shopping cart"
Endcap $1,100.00 An Endcap is typically 20-feet in length and 5-feet deep, is at the end of two rows and has two corners. However, since there are storage areas at the Northern Virginia Christmas Market, an Endcap is actually 30 feet long and 10 feet deep with 2 corners. All Endcap booth spaces come with a 10-foot high x 30-foot long back drape Because this booth is so large, it does not have any storage behind it. We encourage exhibitors with endcaps to either bring a temporary curtain to put in front of the back drape to create storage, or bring extra fully draped tables and place storage items underneath. Please note - You Do not have to add the corner fee below to this booth selection. The Endcap fee includes both corner fees.
Corner Fee $50.00 Corner fees are for those exhibitors who would like to be placed on a corner for extra exposure. This essentially creates two selling sides for the exhibitor. We recommend not ordering extra drape or setting up a panel on the open corner side, so that your booth can be seen from many different directions.
8-foot Table $20.00 Table Rental: IMPORTANT! 8-foot tables rented for the Northern Virginia Christmas Market are slightly more narrow than at our Virginia Beach Facility. These tables are 24" wide. These tables DO NOT come dressed (with table cloths on them.) Please make sure you bring table coverings and that they are they can accommodate these slightly narrow tables. All exhibitor tables must be covered to the ground on all 4 sides in an attractive manner. Please and Thanks!
6-Foot Table $20.00 Table Rental: IMPORTANT! 6-foot tables rented for the Northern Virginia Christmas Market are slightly more narrow than at our Virginia Beach Facility. These tables are 24" wide. Please make sure your table coverings are the same width. These tables DO NOT come dressed (with table cloths on them.) Please make sure you bring table coverings and that they are they can accommodate these slightly narrow tables. Side Drape $20.00 Each booth has a back drape that is 10' high and runs the length of the booth in sections of red and white fabric. However, if an exhibitor wants to close in, or "wall in" their booth, they can rent side drape for $20 per section. All side drape is white. Please keep in mind that if you wall in your booth, and the hall is filled your booth will have somewhat limited visibility. People will not be able to see your inventory unless they are right in front of your booth.
