About the application

The Grant Park Conservancy is happy to announce that we will be hosting the 23rd annual Summer Shade Festival in Grant Park!

 

Artists (Juried and Non Juried) — Items suitable for sale at the Summer Shade Festival are handcrafted items, as well as antiques, furniture, memorabilia, consumables, and other unique items. Handcrafted items are items that are designed and/or made by the exhibitor. Items may not be mass produced. Artist applications will be reviewed and responded to in the order they are received.

Community Partners — If your organization would like to participate in the Summer Shade Festival for outreach and educational purposes only, you may apply as a Community Partner. To qualify as a Community Partner, you must either be (1) a non-profit organization, (2) local political candidates or incumbents, (3) local churches, and (4) schools. While Community Partners are not allowed to sell anything from their booths, they are allowed to hand out free samples that representative their organization. Community Partner applications will be reviewed and accepted/rejected as they are received. There are a limited number of Community Partner applications available. 

 

Jury Scoring — A panel of local artists reviews and scores work in these four areas:

  • Level of Achievement - The artist has a consistent body of work that reflects a style and approach to the medium as well as skill in the handling of the medium.
  • Technical Skill - The artist’s handling of the media exhibits control, skill, and experience. The design or composition of the work shows an understanding and utilization of the principles of design.
  • Concept - The artist works with ideas and effectively reflects an idea, a point of view, or a specific concept.
  • Presentation - The work itself is presented appropriately for exhibition. The support materials reflect a professional standard.

 

Jury Awards - The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place recipients will receive their awards during the festival.

  • 1st Place: $250 + complimentary booth for the 2025 Summer Shade Festival
  • 2nd Place: $150
  • 3rd Place: $100

Animal Welfare Groups — We welcome organizations that work with animal welfare but we do not allow animals on site, caged or otherwise.

 

Cancellation — Prior to August 1, 2025, refunds of booth fees must be requested in writing. After August 1, 2025, no refunds will be granted. Application fees are nonrefundable.

The Summer Shade Festival is a two-day festival in historic Grant Park that features an artist market, food vendors, kids activities, and music.

Terms & Conditions

If selected as an artist or vendor to participate in the Grant Park Conservancy Summer Shade Festival, I understand and will adhere to all operating rules and procedures listed below and any others that may be provided at a later date.

 

  • My booth will be open for business during all hours as set by the Festival.

  • This is an outdoor event. It is my responsibility to prepare for weather contingencies. The Festival determines at what point artists may close their booths.

  • I will attach sufficient weight on all corners of my tent to prevent my tent from becoming a missile in the event of high winds. 

  • I will not stake my tent or any other items in the ground or tie my tent to trees, shrubs, or other objects in the public park.

  • Load-In is Friday, August 22, 2025 (unless I receive advance notice of a change) and I will adhere to assigned times and instructions in order to facilitate an orderly set up.

  • I will never drive my vehicle on grass or turf. All wheels of my vehicle will remain on asphalt or other hard surface at all times.

  • I will pick-up/clean up around my booth space before leaving the Festival on Sunday evening.

  • If I need to withdraw from the Festival I will do so in writing prior to August 1. I understand that after August 1, refunds will not  be issued. No exceptions, unless approved by the Festival Committee.

  • I understand the Festival is licensed by the City of Atlanta and the State of Georgia to sell alcoholic beverages during the event. Possession or sale of alcoholic beverages by unauthorized vendors will result in immediate removal of the offending artist/vendor. There is no refund of fees to offending artists/vendors.

  • I will show/sell my work as represented in the application submitted. The Festival reserves the right to close and/or remove artists who attempt to show/sell products/works not listed in the application or the work of other artists. Booth sharing is not permitted without the express written permission of the Festival.

  • I will make alternate arrangements for my pets and understand I cannot bring them into the Festival production area during the run of the show, unless they are approved & documented service animals.

  • Exhibitors are required to use white tents. All tents must be treated with fire retardant material. Exhibitors must, upon request, show flammability certificate or manufacturer's tag.
