There is a $5.00 entry fee per child. Your entry fee will be donated to Wigs for Kids.
This competition is open to girls and boys.
One free admission ticket ($10.00 value) will be mailed for you or your child to enter. All others in the car will need to pay admission.
PLEASE NOTE! Admission to the fair is $10.00 per person before 3:00 PM After 3:00 PM admission will be $15.00 per person.
Check in will be from 3:00 PM to 3:45. Competition begins at 4:00 PM
Come in early and enjoy the fair before the competition! Your child will be given a sticker to wear before the competition notating they will be competing in the competition and asking for votes to win "Fan Favorite"!
2 pictures must be submitted with your donation.
On the application, please put the child's name (can be just first name or initials in the business name field. Parents or guardians name in contact name field.
We will post these pictures on this platform to garner donations for Wigs for Kids. A " Fan Favorite" trophy will be awarded to the youth that collects the most donations through this platform and donations made before or at the competition. You may collect donations and bring them to the competition.

With your permission and to help with garner donations for each contestant, pictures will be posted on the Shelby County Fair Facebook page and local Shelbyville Facebook groups and may be submitted to the press but has no control over publication.
If you choose not to have your child's picture posted, this in no way will affect your child's ability to win the competitions.
We will have buckets on site for donations given the day of the competition.
All mullets must be grown by the participants themselves; no fake hair, wigs, extensions, or artificial hair of any kind will be accepted.
During the day of the competition, it is encouraged to come in "costume" and have your stage presence ready.
Youth will be judged on the following criteria:
20 Points - Size: The overall length, width, and density (fullness) of the hair.
20 points - Quality: The graduation, taper, and thickness of the hair. Precise grooming (fly away hairs) sheen and symmetry of the hair style.
20 points - Color: The natural color of the hair: multi-color blending, natural lightening or greying, vibrancy, consistency or variation.
20 points - Style & Presentation: Does it complement the individuals overall style?
20 points - Dazzle: How the youth portray him/herself and the hairstyle through costume and stage presence. The judges will be looking for youth whose hairstyle reflects their personality, their hairs personality and their costumes personality.
