About the event

Join us for the 50th anniversary of Mountain Heritage Day! Mountain Heritage Day is a one-day, free outdoor festival where 15,000 plus visitors enjoy live entertainment, over 120 booths including unique demonstrators, juried arts and crafts, a wide variety of food, and tons of family-friendly activities celebrating Appalachian Mountain culture. The festival is a gift from Western Carolina University to the community, and everyone from everywhere is welcome to attend. This family-oriented festival shows how much we value this incredible, beautiful region we call home and its diverse culture and history. To maintain a quality show, we jury all applicants, regardless of past participation. If you decide to participate, carefully review the terms and conditions below, and complete the application form. Once you have submitted your application, a juried committee will review it. You will receive an email notification reflecting the status of your application. Upon approval of your application, the application and booth fees will be due. NOTE: PAYMENT IS DUE UPON ACCEPTANCE ONLY. Application and booth fees are due by July 1, 2024. There are a limited number of booth spaces available; they are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, regardless of past involvement. Please discuss this opportunity with your organization as soon as possible and apply early. IMPORTANT DATES January 31 - Applications open (Applications are considered on a rolling basis) July 1 - Vendor applications close and payment deadline (Later applications may be considered at the discretion of the MHD Committee. Booth assignments will NOT be made until payment is received. NO notifications will be made over the phone. Payment is due upon acceptance. Once accepted, the payment will be extracted from the credit card.) August 1 - Cancellation deadline (Deadline for written cancellation with 50% refund of booth fee) September 16 - Event information emailed to vendors (This includes parking pass, event map, booth assignment and check-in information.) September 27 - Early set-up (Check-in between 1-6 p.m.) September 28 - Set-up (Check-in between 7-8:30 a.m. Set-up must be complete and vehicles off the field by 9 a.m.) SEPTEMBER 28 - MOUNTAIN HERITAGE DAY!!! (10 A.M. - 4 P.M.)

Terms & Conditions

Booth spaces are 12’X12’. The location is determined by the MHD Committee after the fee is paid.
 
Booth spaces are set up in groups of two. You will be back-to-back with another vendor with one foot in between booth spaces. Please bring a divider or tent back.
 
Artist(s) accepted for participation in the show must be in attendance during the festival.
 
Artists must supply their own tent, tables, chairs, and display materials.
 
Electricity is NOT provided.
 
Sales are limited to the work photographed/described in your application and approved by the jury committee. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in dismissal from the festival without refund.
 
All products must be handmade by the artist. Traditional crafts are encouraged. No machine-manufactured, mass-produced, imported, pre-formed, pre-cut or kit items are allowed. No commercially manufactured items, imported items, or balloons are allowed. No pre-made items from other merchandisers (e.g. Wal-Mart) are allowed.
 
No commercially made t-shirts and/or other branded items (e.g. Nike).
 
Western Carolina University and/or purple and gold themed items are encouraged (For branding questions, please email dsmillican@email.wcu.edu).
 
No selling or giving away food or beverages unless they are a juried product, or you are an approved “pre-packaged foods” vendor.
 
No raffles and/or auctions.
 
No generators or loud sound systems are allowed.
 
No selling or solicitation outside of assigned booth space.
 
Vendors must stay open to the public until 4 pm. No vehicles will be allowed onto the grounds until 4:30 pm or festival management deems it safe.
 
The festival is held outdoors, rain or shine. There are no refunds due to weather.
 
No booth assignments will be made until the fee is paid.
 
The MHD Committee reserves the right to change vendor booth assignments due to the circumstances on the day of the event.
 
Cancellations in writing by August 1, 2024, will receive a 50% refund.
 
Your signature on the application form constitutes an agreement for your organization to be bound by the stated policies – this applies to all your organization’s associates present at MHD.

Prices

12x12 Booth $175 Single booth space is 12'x 12'.
12x24 Booth $315 Double booth space is 12'x 24'.

Picture requirements

  • Minimum pictures required: 5
  • Five HIGH quality digital images of your most recent work in order to be juried (four of your work, with one being up close and one of booth display). Please note that mailed photos will not be returned.
